The Briarcliff Havanese
"The Havanese is a small sturdy dog of immense charm. A native of Cuba, he has evolved from a pampered lap dog of the aristocracy, to the quintessential family pet. His duties traditionally have been those of companion and playmate."
- AKC Havanese Breed Standard
(effective in 2001)
Our Havanese are a part of our family. They live in the house, romp in the yard, and sleep on the bed. They are bred for health and temperament which is essential to maintaining their purpose in life; to be a beloved family pet.
About Us
We are located in an unincorporated area of Orange County, California referred to as North Tustin.
We purchased our first Havanese dog from Sue and David Nelson of Shaggyluv in 2001, on the condition that after he obtained his championship, he would be our pet. It became apparent as his breeder showed Jack, that he was an exceptionally nice representative of the breed, and it sparked the interest we have today in breeding and showing our dogs at AKC conformation events.
We breed our dogs on occasion as a labor of love, and not a business. All of our dogs are health tested for possible genetic diseases and disorders that are sometimes found in purebred dogs. All of our puppies are born and raised here in our home, and are well socialized. With our breeding, we strive to produce Havanese that are healthy, have wonderful temperaments, and conform to the AKC breed standard.
